Waxed paper lamp

What if new things could be made from old things? Then products wouldn’t just be products, they would be resources, material banks, a never ending stream of building blocks for the future. The goal of this project was to finds ways to make use of otherwise useless stuff and doing this through the gathering of waste material from production.
For this to be possible we need to design products that we can repair, renew and upgrade by making sure it's easy for every single piece to be repurposed or remanufactured and then, at the very end, recycled and not wasted. Creating a mindset of products living multiple lives, until one day they are needed somewhere else, by someone else as something else entirely.
By looking at the economic environment in which we live in today one can clearly conclude a change is needed, a shift in the way we conduct business. The linear model of take, make, waste needs to change to that of a circular one where we instead take, make and remake until we finally recycle it back to the earth from where it came.

MODEL BUILDING
SÖDRA Cell is Swedens largest forest owners' association, creating wood pulp. This paper mass is obtained from sustainably harvested woods which is then refined into sheets of thick paper. These sheets are eventually dissolved back to pulp for their customers to create whatever paper product they are looking to make. This lamp is made out of these sheets of paper pulp which are then waxed, creating a shapeable surface. Due to the wax changing the properties of the paper, making it more see-through and almost transparent the light gets directed with verity throughout the room, illuminating your home.
